What
can YOU do to help prevent pet overpopulation
Spay/neuter your pet. Encourage others to do so as well.
Spayed or neutered animals no longer feel the need to roam
to look for a mate. The result is that they stay home and
have
lesser
chance of being involved in traumatic accidents such as being
hit by a car. They also have a much lower incidence of contracting
contagious diseases, and get into fewer fights.
Adopt a rescued pet
Before you visit a pet store or breeder, think about the
rescued animals in need of a loving home. The experience
is rewarding and your love for your new pet will be appreciated
and returned to you tenfold. Please see our listings of rescued
pets available
for adoption.
Volunteer your time at a shelter
Practically every community has shelters for nurturing needy
animals. Your time can make a big impact.
Donate: Money or “wish list” items (every group
has a wish list!)
Since volunteer groups are funded strictly by donations,
needed supplies and equipment are always at a premium. Your
donation, whatever the size, makes a difference. If you would
like to help Stray Aid & Rescue with its efforts to control
pet overpopulation and find homes for animals in need, please
see our wish list for
items desperately needed by our organization.
